Revealing the Druid Legacy Series

Revealing the Druid Legacy Series

Shellie Enteen

Author Introduction

I’ve been a writer since childhood, but my creative production of poems and novels began to accelerate over the last 15 years. I also enjoy photography; nature walks and posting about astrology and other topics on my Substack page. Following the seasons attending and leading Celtic festival circles was very helpful in my work on the Revealing the Druid Legacy Series.

Author Bio

With a BA in English Literature from NYU, I have published in trade magazines on Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, and Astrology. Celebrating the Celtic Calendar festivals reinvigorated my work on a novel I had been given as an ‘assignment’ by a stranger on a train in the UK…the life story of a Dark Age Druid Priestess. It’s an unusual telling of the Arthur legend which my Muse says is the truth behind folk tales that fueled the written entertainments appearing 700 years after the fact. These priestesses and the whole culture had been maligned by the Roman church, and my Muse has brought us the truth about their practices, training and role in society.

Revealing the Druid Legacy Series

The three books in the Revealing the Druid Legacy Series are: The Last Priestess, Priestess of the Realms, and Priestess of the Prophecy

They are a tale of ancient times when magic still existed, taking you deep into the Dark Ages where the Druid secrets are kept. We journey with Anwen to festivals, initiations, stone circles, sacred groves, and healing wells. We follow her to The Priestess Isle and induction into her training as she joins the last Circle of Nine. Throughout the series we discover a compelling new version of a famous myth, filled with teachings that may conjure ‘a memory awakening in the crystals of your bones. And we learn the secret of how they preserved their teachings for us who seek them now.

Themes and Strengths: Anwen is recognized at birth as a returning priestess of the ways. She also has a special part to play in the secret Druid plan to preserve their knowledge, but she won’t know her role until she has completed her training. Messages come in teachings and dreams and hints dropped by Merlin and the head Priestess, Gwendolen. As we watch Anwen move through this role in Book Three, fulfilling her vow to the Goddess, the meaning and reason for all her experiences are revealed.

Throughout the trilogy, we see the power of living a life in tune with nature and receiving guidance for our intentions. We see the Divine Feminine and Masculine through relationships built on love, equality and purpose.

An excerpt from Book One: The Last Priestess

“Through all the years of war, the Druids have prophesied the coming of a great king from the line of Pen Dragons, the greatest of the warrior chiefs. He will be an invincible one who will lead us, protect the land, and bring us peace. If Merlin is right about the Pen Dragon’s son, this child,” he came to where I slept in my mother’s lap and looked down on me. “She will see it and perhaps will help to make it so.”

“I am afraid for her,” my mother whispered.

“He would have told us if you had something to fear,” he slipped his arm around her back and kissed the top of her head. “Now, put the child in her crib, wife. We’ll finish this small bit of mead and go to bed.”

The boy-child they spoke of had been born to the Uther Pen Dragon’s wife on the winter solstice. The heavens held clear signs of a great warrior and able defender of his people’s faith. Along with the noble Latin name, given to all royal families in Wales, he was called Arthur, Heavenly Bear. Like the pole star in the constellation for which he was named, he would guide us to our desired destination.

An excerpt from Book Two: Priestess of the Realms

“There is a reason that I have taken on human form today,” the Selke began. “It was best for us to be together like this again for another important teaching I must give you." He reached out and took my hands in his.

“Water holds the realm of feeling, as it receives and responds. Its role as carrier of feelings is what I must teach you now. …. When I gave you pleasure through my kiss, our liquids merged, and you received my heartfelt love for your participation. This love created the bond that allows me to convey my teachings. It also heightens your awareness of the realm of feelings which gives you greater awareness of the feelings of others…”

An excerpt from Book Three: Priestess of Prophecy

I emerged from the tent just as the sun was setting. The western sky was still light blue, deepening into indigo above where the fluffy clouds that remained were in shades of lavender and pink. I walked the pathway toward the stone circles and soon saw the torches lighting an entry point to the near circle, and a larger solstice bonfire blazing in the circle beyond.

I walked between the torches to the center where I stood on an indigo wool blanket, woven with a pattern of gold spirals, and strewn with pink rose petals. On the far side, a bronze tray held a blue pitcher of mead and two bronze goblets, one etched with the crescent moon and the other with a flame-ringed sun. Seven smaller torches were placed at intervals within the ring, a gentle breeze causing flickering shadows to appear on the stones behind them. Air, Fire, Water, and Earth—all were present for this moment.

A horse knickered softly, the sound coming from behind the rise…

Sacred Reflection on the Dark Feminine

I was told by my Guides that Anwen’s story could not be told until the Roman Church was weakened beyond repair and this happened in 2013. I was also told to visit Wales and had some mystical and magical experiences there which helped me relate to Anwen, her story, her training, and gave me the desire to show both women and men of today how they would benefit from a society where women were equal to men.

This desire to recover the power of the hidden feminine has led me to rewrite a myth from the Christianized era that demonizes Ceridwen, keeper of the Cauldron of inspiration from the Otherworld. Learning about her gave me the awareness that I had been "Called to the Cauldron" in this lifetime and bringing inspiration from the Otherworld was my purpose, no matter where or when I am communicating.
